Flynn's Progress

Welcome to the brand new horse blog 'My Horse Flynn'! I'm Macey, and of course, my rescued horse's name is Flynn. For his full story, read the 'about' page. For now, let's see his progress.

Flynn is about 1 1/2 to 2 years old. This is his progress health and personality wise-

So, this picture is about the 3rd or 4th day after rescuing him when he was still running from us in fear:
Flynn was quite thin, you could see his ribs but his butt was very sunken in. To the left you can see our other horse we rescued , who's name is Wildfire. You can see how sunken in her butt was, and her ribs were showing pretty bad. I might talk more about her in a different post. The horses were in a round-pen at a friends house for a while and that is where this picture was taken. They had more room, this picture was just taken inside where the pen connects to the barn. We gave them hay, and treated their colds.

This is after about a month and a half to two months of having them. This was when we let them out of the round-pen and into the pasture with our friends horses. You can see that his ribs aren't showing as badly, but he was eating more causing the worms inside him to increase.  You can see his worm gut in this picture.

This is from the same day as the last picture. You can really see how bad his worm gut was, but also how much his butt had filled out with muscle and fat by this time. These pictures also show the bite marks from the auction house (there were some pretty 'grumpy' horses there).
This is a recent picture so that's why I put it after the others, but we did halter break him about a week after having him . We made sure to do it as soon as he let us touch him, and now he leads pretty well , and backs up great. With the help of a friend, we had him halter broke in 2 days.

This picture shows how much weight he has gained, and was taken about a week or two ago ( about 4 days after starting to de-worm him ). You can see his worm gut is a bit smaller as well.

You can see in this picture that he no longer looks like a pregnant horse. He still has a worm gut, but not near as bad. This is one of the newest (and blurriest) pictures I have of him.

So, this is Flynn's physical progress and personality progress. I'm really happy with how far he has come. Soon, I will have a post up with more of his progress in training, and how we did it. Thanks for reading , and I hope you liked watching Flynn's progress!
